BREAKFAST - WHAT'S YOUR PLEASURE
Breakfast is probably the most important meal of the day and I’m surprised that so many people do not eat until lunch time – shock horror! If this is you then listen up! When you sleep for around 5-8 hours a night, it’s a type of fasting period while your body goes to work repairing and maintaining itself - that's evident that the human body is an incredibly complex and miraculous creation. When it’s time to open your eyes the first thing your body needs is water and food. If you leave out this valuable meal it can make you feel sluggish with a lack of concentration until you decide to add fuel to feed your brain and nourish your body. We must remember food is fuel, but too often we choose to eat food based on emotion and not on what our body needs.
So let’s talk about what to eat in the morning. If you know you won’t be eating again for another 4 hours its good to eat a breakfast that consists of energy that is slowly released in the body, like cereal:-

-
Porridge
-
Special K
-
Bran Flakes
-
All Bran
Also you can add some fruit like banana, blueberries strawberries etc. Try not to eat cereal that is coated in chocolate, honey or sugar, allow the fruit to sweeten up your bowl.
So what about a fry up? I hear you say!
As long as you use minimal oil you can enjoy food such as:-
-
Egg on Toast (boiled, poached, scrambled, fried)
-
Egg, beans on wholemeal toast
-
Omelette with spinach and cheese
Adding herbs, garlic and seasoning like paprika or a Cumin for flavour is good, and be careful how much salt seasoning (e.g. All Purpose or other salty based seasoning) you use.
Remember to eat so there is still room in your tummy, there is no need to have a large plate full of food or a mixing bowl full of cereal. Enjoy your tea or coffee too, go easy on the sugar and add a tall glass of water to hydrate your body after a night of sleep.

So what about bacon and sausages Paula?
I am not a big fan of processed meat as it not the healthiest however, if you like it, be mindful of how often you indulge and how much you put on your plate.
